Sous Vide Cooking
Sous Vide, which literally means "under vaccum", is the technique of cooking food in a hot water bath by placing it first in a vacuum-sealed bag. However, we found that you can Sous Vide quite easily using zip-lock bags. It is very important to maintain the correct temperature and to cook the food for a minimum time to ensure that the food reaches an internal temperature sufficient to kill any bacteria.

We built our own Sous-Vide cooker using a water-pump, type-k thermocouple, PID controller and a solid-state relay as shown below.
