Te Whaiti Canyon - GONZALES

Te Whaiti Nui a Toi (The great artistic and narrow) Canyon is on the Whirinaki river, not far from Minginui. It is a sacred and very beautiful Maori place. These are our own pictures. The first two are taken by attaching a Nikon D7000 to the end of a 20ft piece of timber, bought locally, setting the shutter timer, hanging out over the precipice and hoping for the best. The last one is taken down at river level, near the track.
