Schools
We are passionate about promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to young school children using the resources of Amatuer Radio. We set up and ran three very successful school Amateur Radio clubs, for six years, including external workshops and demonstrations while Julie was a library technician at primary schools in Melbourne. We also started the School Amateur Radio Club Network.
Science Week 2019
We presented our popular electronics prototyping workshop for the whole school at St. Kevin's Primary School, Ormond during Science Week 2019. It was a fun day. Everyone was able to build their own flashing LED circuit on a prototyping board and, best of all, take it home to show mum and dad! We donated over A$400 worth of prototyping kits to make this day a success.
School Field Trip
In August 2017 and again in 2019, with the help of Peter VK3PH, we conducted a full scale activation and simulated search and rescue exercise for the children of St. Kevin's Primary School Ormond.
